Black Stars captain Andre Ayew explains his father’s impact on his career.

Andre Ayew, an Al Sadd striker, claims he gets a lot of inspiration from his father, Abedi Pele.

The three-time African Player of the Year award winner is also described as an idol by the former Swansea City player.

Abedi Pele is widely considered the best Ghanaian footballer of all time, and most supporters anticipate his sons to follow his on-field prowess and personality.

He played for several European clubs and found his fame in the French Ligue 1 with Lille and Marseille, the latter where he won the UEFA Champions League in 1993, among other titles.

Speaking to the Kwabena Yeboah on the Sports Highlights show, Andre Ayew hailed his father.

“I take a lot if not every inspiration from him. He’s my idol and an unbelievable Father,” he said.

Andre Ayew will surpass Asamoah Gyan as Ghana’s all-time appearance maker if he plays three more games for the Black Stars.
