Ajegipina Zakaria, forward for Ampem Darkoa Ladies and the Black Queens has shared her journey in Ghana’s football scene.
“I started playing football with boys because girls don’t take the game serious,” she told.the GFA media team, highlighting the challenges women face in the sport.
Zakaria’s determination led her to pursue football despite societal norms.
Now a key player for Ampem Darkoa, she’s helping pave the way for young girls in Ghana.
“Playing with boys toughened me up, it made me the player I am today,” she adds. Zakaria’s passion for football is evident as she inspires the next generation.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies have been a launching pad for several Ghanaian players, and Zakaria’s story is a testament to perseverance.
She made her national team debut against Hong Kong in the Pink Ladies Cup, scoring after coming on as a substitute.
She has already netted twice for the Black Queens in two outings.
