Black Queens coach Kim Lars Björkegren targets top-four finish at 2024 Women’s AFCON

Head coach of Black Queens, Kim Lars Björkegren, has set his sights on a top-four finish at the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations.

The Swedish trainer recently penned a two-year deal with the Ghana Football Association after Nora Hauptle’s departure to coach the Zambian Female National Team.

Björkegren’s and his team are currently in Morocco preparing for an international friendly against Morocco on Friday

“The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is on the way, and we have the Women’s World Cup in Brazil. We have to start now and make sure we improve each day,” he stated.

“We are going to do everything to make the people proud of the women’s national team.

“We need to make sure that, in the long run, the Black Queens are a top-four team in Africa. For me, the immediate task is to make sure we are in the top four in the next AFCON and guarantee we will be in Brazil.”

The Black Queens of Ghana have been placed in Group C of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), alongside defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania.

The tournament, set to be hosted in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2025
