Ghanaian youth international Persis Oteng has completed a move to German Frauen-Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, signing a three-year contract following an impressive stint with Tottenham Hotspur Women.
The 18-year-old forward, who was born in Germany but raised in England from the age of 11, makes a return to her country of birth after lighting up the Professional Game Academy League with 26 goals in 26 matches — a testament to her attacking prowess.
Oteng expressed her excitement after joining Leipzig, describing the move as a major milestone in her career.
“This is a dream come true,” she said. “I’m incredibly thankful for the chance to play for such a prestigious club. I’m ready to give my best, learn from my teammates, and connect with the fans and the city. I believe this is just the beginning of a special journey.”
Viola Odebrecht, Head of Women’s Football at RB Leipzig, was full of praise for the young Ghanaian-English talent.
“Signing Persis Oteng is a significant step for us. She’s an ambitious and technically gifted forward with a keen eye for goal, explosive pace, and strong attacking instincts,” Odebrecht said. “We’re excited to have her on board for the long term.”
Oteng is expected to play a key role in Leipzig’s continued push to become a dominant force in German women’s football.
