Medeama coach Ibrahim Tanko dismisses exit rumours surrounding Kamaradini Mamudu

Medeama SC head coach, Ibrahim Tanko, has shot down speculation linking star right-back Kamaradini Mamudu with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old defender has been one of the standout performers for the Yellow and Mauve this season, playing a pivotal role in their domestic campaign. His consistent displays have not gone unnoticed, earning him a call-up to the Ghana national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar in March.

Despite growing rumours suggesting Mamudu could be heading for the exit, Tanko insists there has been no official approach for the player.

“I’m not aware of any interest from other clubs. Mamudu is a key figure in this team,” Tanko said following Medeama’s 3-1 win over Vision FC on Matchday 30. “He’s a national team player because of his hard work and consistency, but here, we always focus on the team, not individuals.”

Tanko went on to praise Mamudu’s attacking prowess, highlighting his knack for scoring goals despite his defensive position. He explained that Medeama’s tactical setup often allows the full-back to drift into midfield roles when the team is in possession, enhancing his impact in the final third.

“It’s no surprise to me that he’s finding the net often. Tactically, he operates almost like a midfielder when we have the ball,” he explained.

The coach also addressed growing public calls for more Medeama players to be included in the national squad. While he expressed confidence in the quality of his players, Tanko was quick to clarify that team selection is ultimately the responsibility of the national coaches.

“I don’t believe I need to recommend anyone. The national team coaches are observing the league closely. They’re my friends, and if we ever discuss players, I’ll certainly speak highly of someone like Prosper Boakye,” he added.

Mamudu, whose form has been instrumental in Medeama’s campaign, will look to continue his strong performances as the team prepares to face Karela United in their upcoming Matchday 31 clash at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
