The Sports Ministry has finally settled the outstanding bonuses owed to members of the Black Princesses.
Each player received $4,500, a reviewed amount from the initial $6,000 owed for their participation in the three qualifying rounds of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The payment comes after months of waiting, following a promise by Gifty Oware-Mensah, women’s football representative on the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council, to settle the debts before the African Games in March.
The Black Princesses are currently preparing to represent Ghana at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, starting on August 31.
They have been drawn in Group E alongside Japan, Austria, and New Zealand, and are seeking to qualify from the group stages for the first time in their seventh consecutive appearance at the tournament.
