Black Queens Head Coach Kim Lars Björkegren says his side is fully prepared and motivated ahead of their 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Egypt on Thursday.
The Swedish tactician believes Ghana’s preparations have gone according to plan despite the limited time for camp, adding that the team’s depth and blend of experience and youth give them an edge going into the crucial tie.
“Of course, you always want more days to prepare for important games like against Egypt, but otherwise we have really good energy and we’re looking forward to playing another two games here,” Björkegren told the Black Queens media team.
He revealed that Ghana’s camp has been competitive, with several emerging players showing promise and pushing for places in the starting lineup.
“We know that we have a strong squad that did really well in the summer, like I said, but there are so many players with good potential that haven’t been in the squad before.
“We try to rotate and give new players a chance because at the end of the day, we always need to have the best players on the pitch for Ghana.”
The coach added that the team’s increased depth would play a key role in their performance across both legs of the qualifier.
The Black Queens will face Egypt in Ismailia in the first leg on Thursday, October 23 before returning home for the second leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 28, 2025.
