Black Stars and Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has visited Ghana’s National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, as he continues a nationwide tour to thank those who supported the national team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Asare made the courtesy call at the Chief Imam’s residence as part of his post-World Cup appreciation tour. During the meeting, the 34-year-old goalkeeper presented Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu with a customised Black Stars jersey bearing Asare’s name.
The jersey was offered as a gesture of gratitude for the National Chief Imam’s prayers and continued support for the Black Stars throughout their World Cup campaign.
Asare also used the visit to seek special prayers and spiritual guidance as he prepares for the new football season. In response, the National Chief Imam prayed for the goalkeeper and offered him words of encouragement.
Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu also commended Asare for his humility and for the contribution he made to Ghana’s World Cup campaign.
The meeting is one of several stops on Asare’s nationwide tour, which is focused on expressing his appreciation to national and community leaders who supported the Black Stars.
Before visiting the National Chief Imam, Asare had paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II. He has also met Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, along with other community leaders.
Those visits form part of Asare’s efforts to acknowledge the support extended to the national team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign. His meeting with Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu combined that message of appreciation with a request for prayers and spiritual direction before the start of the new season.
The goalkeeper’s presentation of a personalised Black Stars shirt bearing his own name provided a symbolic focus for the visit, linking his role with the national team to the support he said he received during the World Cup campaign.
Asare’s tour will continue with further engagements with leaders and members of communities as he completes his post-World Cup “Thank You Tour”.
