Belgian top-flight side Cercle Brugge have added young winger Charles Herrmann to their squad during the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old, who has Ghanaian roots, arrives from Borussia Mönchengladbach after completing a permanent move.

Cercle confirmed the transfer shortly before the window closed, securing the player on a deal that runs until June 2029.

Herrmann spent much of the season with Mönchengladbach’s reserve side but also tasted first-team football.

In their announcement, the club said: “Charles Herrmann (20) has joined the green-and-black ranks… The German winger makes the move from Borussia Mönchengladbach and has signed a contract until June 2029.”

The statement also highlighted his pace, left foot and ability to operate on either wing.

Technical Director Luciano Murchio expressed confidence in the signing, stating: “We are very pleased to welcome Charles to Cercle… We are confident that Charles will make an important contribution to both our short-term and long-term objectives.”

Before the move, Herrmann featured 16 times across competitions this season, scoring twice and providing three assists.

He developed through the academies of Hannover 96 and Borussia Dortmund and lifted both the U17 World Cup and U17 European Championship with Germany.

Herrmann, the son of former Ghana international Charles Kwablan Akonnor, remains eligible to switch international allegiance to Ghana in the future.
