FC Barcelona officials are doing all they can to tie winger Ousmane Dembele to a new deal.
The Frenchman has his current contract expiring in the summer and with his performances in recent games, the club feels that he will be an important player under new manager Xavi who has started his tenure at the club brilliantly.
“He and his agents have known for nearly a year what our position is. For us, he can stay, as long as it’s within sustainable salary limits and proportionate to his teammates,” Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany.
The stand is a stark contrast to what the club president said earlier in the season when they threatened not to play Dembele if he didn’t sign a new deal by January this year.

The player has been linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain should they lose Kylian Mbappe but according to how things have gone in recent weeks, there is a possibility that he might stay longer at Camp Nou.
Man United was the other team that was linked with the player but the rumors have since died.
