Former Asante Kotoko Executive Chairman Dr. Kofi Kodua (K.K.) Sarpong has described the club’s successive Ghana Premier League titles under his leadership as the proudest achievement of his tenure.
Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV, Dr. Sarpong reflected on his time at the helm of the Porcupine Warriors, stressing that ending the club’s long wait for domestic success remains a defining highlight of his administration.
“I won two league cups back to back; they hadn’t won it for about seven years so that was the proudest moment,” he said. “When the time comes for you to leave, nobody should tell you you should exit, and I left at the right time.”
Dr. Sarpong served as Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko between 2010 and 2013, a period widely regarded as a revival phase in the club’s modern history. His administration oversaw a return to dominance after years of near misses in the league.
Kotoko clinched consecutive Ghana Premier League titles during that spell, bringing an end to a seven-year drought and re-establishing themselves as the benchmark club in Ghanaian football.
Beyond the league triumphs, the Porcupine Warriors also secured two Super Cup (Champion of Champions) titles under his leadership, further underlining a sustained period of success.
Dr. Sarpong’s comments have reignited memories of one of Kotoko’s most successful recent eras, often cited by supporters as a standard the club continues to aspire to replicate.
