Atalanta will welcome Roma to Bergamo this Monday after the breaking news in Italy forced both sides further down the table just as Jose Mourinho’s men advanced into the semi-finals of the Europa League after a thrilling Thursday clash.

This game has been given another kick of spice heading into the Monday clash after Juventus’ 15-point deduction was reversed to throw them back into third and above both clubs.

It has now thrown Atalanta out of the European spots with eight games left to play, as Roma have moved into fourth and could slip out of the Champions League spots as a result.

Roma do still come into this one in the Champions League spots, however, and with their dreams of conquering the Europa League still well intact.

Mourinho’s side needed extra time to seal the deal against Feyenoord after Leonardo Spinazzola scored his first European goal before Paulo Dybala sealed extra time with an 89th-minute goal.

Stephen El Shaarawy and Lorenzo Pellegrini scored a goal each in extra time to secure a 4-1 win on the night and a 4-2 victory across the two legs.

Back in Serie A, Roma have also defeated Udinese 3-0, Sampdoria 3-0 and Torino 1-0 in the three games since losing a Rome derby to rivals Lazio. Last time out against Udinese, Edoardo Bove, Pellegrini and Tammy Abraham all scored a goal each.

This three-game winning run for Mourinho’s men keeps the club above Atalanta by seven points and it consequently means the Bergamo outfit are very unlikely to get back into the Champions League for next season if they lose here.

It makes this game arguably the biggest of the season for Atalanta, especially given how they lost to Bologna 2-0 at home last time out, while also drawing on the road with Fiorentina last weekend.

The club are now adrift of the Europa Conference League spot by five points and behind AC Milan in fifth by seven points too.

Giorgio Scalvini was the hero in the reverse fixture in the Italian capital between these two for Gian Piero Gasperini, as his side ran out 1-0 winners at the Stadio Olimpico.

The form of Atalanta hands Roma the advantage in this one, especially after such a great performance in midweek to the high-flying Eredivisie outfit.

Forebet predicts another loss here for Atalanta and for Roma to win the game with under 2.5 goals.
