Former Asante Kotoko management member Alhaji Ali Maradona has thrown shade at Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, saying he’s not fit to be the team’s number one goalkeeper.
Maradona’s comments come amid concerns about Asare’s performances.
Asare has been a mainstay in the Black Stars squad, and Maradona’s criticism adds to the pressure on the goalkeeper after he put up a man of the match display to silence critics in the Super Clash.
“Benjamin Asare is not fit to be the Black Stars’ number one goalkeeper,” Maradona said on Asempa FM, sparking debate among fans and pundits.
The Black Stars are looking for a solid goalkeeper to back them up in the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
