Asante Kotoko secured a 1-0 win over Berekum Chelsea in the MTN FA Cup semi-final on Saturday, guaranteeing their return to continental football next season.
The decisive goal came in the second half from forward Albert Amoah.
Although the Porcupine Warriors face Golden Kick in the final, Kotoko will represent Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup due to CAF regulations, which stipulate that only Premier League clubs can participate in continental competitions, preventing Division One side Golden Kick from particating in the competition.
Regardless of the final’s outcome, Kotoko will inherit the continental slot, marking a significant milestone for the Kumasi-based giants.
This development allows them to focus on preparing for their African campaign while still competing for the FA Cup title. Kotoko’s return to continental football has sparked hopes of a revival in their dominance both locally and beyond.
The team’s experience and composure in key moments proved crucial in their win over Berekum Chelsea, setting the stage for their upcoming African adventure.
