Published: 3 years ago
Division one

Champions Asante Kotoko scored in either half to run over bottom placed Kotoku Royals 3-1 at the Theatre of Dreams on Monday.

Georges Mfegue Omgba scored two quick-fire goals in the opening minutes of the game before Rocky Dwamena added the third goal in the second half. Mfegue opened the scoring in the 8th minute and added the second goal 20 minutes later but Kotoku Royals pulled one back in the 36th minute when forward Richard Dzikoe hit the back of the net to make it 2-1 at the break.

Asante Kotoko were aptly rewarded in the second half when Rocky Dwamena struck the back of the net to make it 3-1 for the Porcupine Warriors.

Kotoku Royals pressed for a comeback but their efforts were not good enough as Asante Kotoko held on to win their first game since April 23, when they came from behind to beat Aduana FC 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.

The win takes Kotoko to the fourth spot with 47 points – six points adrift of leaders Medeama SC with three games to end the season.
