Asante Kotoko’s chairman, Nana Apinkrah, is confident that his team will make a significant impact in the upcoming 2025-26 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Kotoko earned their spot in the competition after winning the Ghana FA Cup title, defeating Golden Kick FC 2-1.
The team is gearing up for their CAF Confederation Cup debut with new signings, including Johnson Owusu Oppong, Hubert Gyau, Francis Acquah, and Zackaria Fuseini.
Before the Confederation Cup, Kotoko will face off against South African side Kaizer Chiefs in the Toyota Cup at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on July 26, 2025.
Apinkrah expressed his team’s determination to revamp and make a mark in African football, saying,
“Historically and currently, we’ve been through ups and downs just like Kaizer Chiefs, but we are using this opportunity to revamp everything. Now that we are going to Africa, we could say we are going to make an impact in the CAF Confederation Cup.”
With their new recruits and Apinkrah’s confidence, Kotoko aims to break their past struggles in CAF interclub competitions and make a lasting impression.
Their participation in the Toyota Cup serves as a valuable warm-up for the challenges ahead.
