Asante Kotoko assistant coach Prince Owusu has signaled that the club will seek fresh additions in the next transfer window in an effort to stabilize their Ghana Premier League campaign.
The team battled from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against Medeama on Sunday, a result that stretched their winless streak to three matches.
Owusu noted that persistent injuries and uneven performances have complicated their season, even though the players continue to show commitment.
“There’s a lot of injuries and the [transfer] window is going to be opened very soon, so we can put in some other people,” he said. “I’m not disappointed with the boys. The only game that hurt me was the one we lost at Basake. In the rest, they put in a very good performance.”
He pointed to last week’s defeat to Basake Holy Stars as particularly frustrating, explaining that the artificial pitch forced a late change.
“We withdrew Joseph Ablorh right on the pitch after the warm-up; we had to take him out to save him. We are going through hell, but we will survive,” he added.
According to Owusu, Kotoko have produced encouraging spells of football, yet their inconsistency keeps them just two points behind the league leaders.
The technical team believes reinforcements could provide the balance the squad has lacked during this challenging run.
Kotoko will now shift their attention to a trip to Hohoe United as they search for a much-needed victory.
