Asante Kotoko have entrusted interim coach Prince Yaw Owusu with the responsibility of steering the team to a strong finish this season.
Owusu, assisted by Mohammed Hamza Obeng, takes charge following the resignation of Karim Zito.
Zito stepped down after Kotoko suffered an MTN FA Cup exit at the hands of Aduana FC.
The Porcupine Warriors have struggled in 2026, claiming just one league win and sitting fifth, eight points adrift of leaders Medeama.
Club Communications Director Sarfo Duku told Luv FM that the interim technical team will be assessed based on their results.
“For now, we will allow him to work and see how things unfold,” he said.
“Based on his performance, we will know the next step to take. We expect them to bring their experience, exposure, and knowledge to bear.”
Sarfo cited Chelsea’s Roberto Di Matteo as an example of an interim coach achieving remarkable success.
“Caretaker coaches have good records. The classical example is Di Matteo at Chelsea,” he added.
Owusu and Obeng will kick off their tenure with the Super Clash against Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium on February 15.
