Ghana legend, Asamoah Gyan jumped to the defense of Cristiano Ronaldo after criticisms were fired the way of the Manchester United forward at the end of the game against Southampton.
The Portuguese attacker was a second-half substitute on the matchday over the weekend and wasted a last-minute counter-attack.
On social media, some fans blasted Ronaldo and accused him of being the reason why Manchester United could not win by a bigger margin.
After reading some of the comments, Asamoah Gyan strongly disagreed with the criticism.
In his view, Ronaldo fought for the team and should not be on the receiving end of attacks.
“Massa Massa he came on in the difficult moment of the game. He when winning the air duels for the team. He should have done better in the last counter-attack but he fought today to make sure day secure the winner. U just want to talk about him cos u have to comment,” Asamoah Gyan posted on his Twitter page.
The game between Manchester United and Southampton ended 1-0 in favour of the Red Devils.
