Roma went unbeaten in five of their last six matches versus Sampdoria in all competitions. On Sunday, the Giallorossi will aim for another unbeaten match against Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Each of the last two games between Roma and Sampdoria ended in 1-0 wins for the capital club. Roma won the reverse fixture 1-0 thanks to a single goal from Lorenzo Pellegrini in the first half.
Jose Mourinho’s Roma go into round 28 in fifth place. After back-to-back Serie A defeats, Roma are one point off fourth-place AC Milan.
The Giallorossi took seven points from the last six matches and struggled to score goals. Roma tallied just seven goals across the last six fixtures.
Sampdoria are 19th in the standings and nine points from relegation safety. The Genoa-based club look set for the drop this season. Sampdoria took five points from the last six on offer in the division. Like Roma, Sampdoria struggled to score goals, with just six coming in the last six matches.
The Blucerchiati have won just three times this season in the league. They failed to win any of their last five matches in Serie A away from home.
Mourinho will be without Marsash Kumbulla, Roger Ibanez, Bryan Cristante, and Gianluca Mancini are all suspended. Pellegrini could miss the game due to a muscle injury. Defender Rick Karsdorp is a doubt following nose surgery, and Ebrima Darboe should miss the game with a knee problem.
Dejan Stankovic will be without Bram Nuytinck due to suspension. Sam Lammers is a doubt with an ankle injury. Emil Audero has a should problem and won’t play. Andrea Conti and Ignacio Pussetto are both doubts to play.
Paulo Dybala leads Roma in goals with nine this season. Tammy Abraham is experiencing a sophomore slump in Rome after last season’s 17-goal Serie A haul. He has only six goals this season for the Giallorossi. Dybala also leads the team in assists with six.
Roma scored 35 goals in their 27 matches this season. They have conceded the fourth-fewest goals this term with 26. Sampdoria conceded the third-most goals in Serie A with 44 after 27 matches. No team in Serie A has scored fewer goals than Sampdoria’s 16.
Roma should get back to winning ways, as they roll over Sampdoria on Sunday 3-0. Dybala could pick the Blucerchiati apart from kick-off in the Eternal City. Roma could move back into the top four with the win.
