Arsenal to taste first defeat?

Tips & Predictions

With the Premier League in full swing and the pressure heating up on various managers, William Hill spokeperson Lee Phelps gives his insight on the best bets for this weekend’s action.

Fulham v Manchester United – Saturday 12:30

The storylines are everywhere ahead of the weekend games, with Erik ten Hag and Manchester United grabbing most of them.

The beleaguered manager went from 9/1 to as short as 11/8 with William Hill to be the next Premier League manager to leave his job, following the cup defeat at home to Newcastle.

He takes his side to Fulham knowing it’s probably a must-win match. They’re the favourites to get all three points, most likely based on the fact the Cottagers’ nine goals scored in the league isn’t enough to win the game. United have only scored 11 in their 10 matches so I think a draw is a big player here and it’s the biggest price of the three outrights.

Newcastle v Arsenal – Saturday 17:30

Newcastle face Arsenal at tea-time and I think the home price is too big for a side who are full of confidence whatever team takes the pitch. Eddie Howe does have players missing, but I think the Gunners are running on fumes too, so if you’re getting anywhere near 2/1 for Newcastle it’s value.

Luton v Liverpool – Sunday 16:30

Let’s finish with Luton against Liverpool. For anyone who remembers a time before the Premier League, the Hatters were a bit of a bogey side at Kenilworth Road for that great Liverpool team of the late 80s. A lot has changed since then, although not much of it is at Kenilworth Road!

Klopp’s men are understandably a short price and I think they win well. You couldn’t have a bet on tackles or shots on target in the 80s, but I like two ‘props’ bets for this game. Mo Salah to have over two shots on target at 12/5and Marvelois Nakamba to make over three tackles at around even money – he’s averaging 3.7 a game and has made five or more in each of his last five Premier League games.
