Former Asante Kotoko forward Eric Bekoe has called on the Ghana Football Association to hire Asamoah Gyan in the Black Stars technical team as strikers’ coach.
Ghana has struggled with goals in the absence of Gyan in all competitions.
Out of the last 29 goals scored by the senior national team, only four have been netted by the centre forwards with majority of goals coming from midfield.
The aforementioned data includes the two goals scored against Angola over two legs in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
“We need to appoint Asamoah Gyan as Black Stars Strikers’ coach to help solve our attacking problems,” he told Angel TV.
“He has attained a coaching license, and we need to make good use of him while he’s alive now.”
Gyan has obtained a UEFA B coaching licence and expected to start his managerial career soon when he officially announces his retirement from professional football.
