Royal Antwerp defender Denis Odoi Frimpong was shown a red card in their 3-1 home loss to RSC Anderlecht in the Belgium Jupiler Pro League playoffs.
The Ghanaian received his first yellow card in the 47th minute for a bad tackle on an opponent at the Bosuilstadion.
He was sent off in the 63rd minute after committing a second dangerous challenge, reducing the hosts to 10 men on Thursday evening.
Keisuke Goto opened the scoring for the visitors in the 55th minute, shortly after a goalless first half. Nathan De Cat and Samuel Edozie added two more goals to seal the victory for Anderlecht.
Michael Ange Balikwisha scored a consolation goal for Antwerp in the 88th minute, but it wasn’t enough to earn the hosts a point in the ongoing playoff campaign.
Odoi’s Ghanaian compatriot, Majeed Ashimeru also featured for 61 minutes for the visitors, who picked up all three points as they continue their push for a European spot next season.
