Medeama SC’s Board Chairman, Dr. Tony Aubynn, believes the future of Ghanaian football is closely tied to the Ghana Premier League’s success.
Ghana’s top football league struggles with low fan engagement, insufficient sponsorship, without a broadcast right holder.
Despite these challenges, Aubynn emphasizes the need to strengthen the domestic league for Ghanaian football to thrive.
“If the league is not doing well, obviously we are not going to do well at the top, and I don’t think we should pin it on one or two persons because they run a club,” he told Channel One TV.
“They also have invested, so there is more to it than one person being singled out for the entire problem. I believe that we need to invest in football,” he added.
The 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League is currently grinding to a halt, with five matches remaining in the season.
