Former Ghana captain Andre Ayew says Mohammed Kudus has the ability to play for any of Europe’s leading clubs, including Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal.
The 25-year-old Ghana international established himself as an influential player during an impressive two-year spell with West Ham United. Kudus joined the Premier League club from Ajax before making a move across London to Tottenham Hotspur.
However, his first season at Tottenham Hotspur has been affected by recurring injuries. Those fitness problems also prevented him from taking part in Ghana’s 2026 World Cup campaign in North America.
Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, hosted by former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi, Ayew said Kudus possessed the qualities required to compete at the highest level of the game.
“He’s got everything to be at the top,” Ayew said.
Ayew, who previously played for Marseille and Swansea City, has shared the pitch with Kudus for Ghana at both the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The former Black Stars captain believes Kudus should concentrate on recovering fully rather than attempting to return before he is ready.
Ayew said the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder had enough ability to represent some of the biggest clubs in European football.
“In my opinion, he is good enough to be in clubs like Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, etc.,” he added.
Kudus is currently recovering from injury and is approaching a return to full fitness.
His two seasons at West Ham United came after he moved to England from Ajax, where his performances helped attract attention from the Premier League. The move to Tottenham Hotspur gave him the opportunity to continue his career at another leading English club, although injuries have limited his involvement during his first campaign there.
For Ghana, Kudus was part of the squad at the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he played alongside Ayew. His absence from the country’s 2026 World Cup campaign in North America was therefore another consequence of the fitness problems that have interrupted his season.
Ayew’s assessment places Kudus among the players capable of operating at the highest level, but he also stressed the importance of a carefully managed recovery. Kudus is now nearing full fitness as he works towards a return to action for Tottenham Hotspur.
