Al-Nassr and Al-Riyadh have agreed to move their forthcoming Roshn Saudi League match to Al-Awwal Park, with the proposed change now awaiting approval from the Saudi Pro League.
The fixture is scheduled for next Friday as part of the second round of the competition. It was originally due to be played at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City Stadium, but Al-Nassr have formally asked for the match to be staged at their home ground after reaching an agreement with Al-Riyadh.
The request has not yet been formally approved by the Saudi Pro League. However, the agreement between the two clubs means the venue change is now expected to proceed once the league gives its consent.
Despite the proposed switch, Al-Riyadh will remain the designated home side for the fixture. The club will also retain the match-day revenue, with operating and maintenance costs deducted from the total income.
That arrangement means the move to Al-Awwal Park will change the location of the match without altering its official status as an Al-Riyadh home game. Al-Nassr’s request is therefore focused on the stadium rather than on changing the hosting rights.
According to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya, the clubs have already settled the matter between themselves and the remaining step is approval from the league authorities. The match will be played in the second round of the Roshn Saudi League, although its final venue remains subject to that decision.
Al-Nassr began the league season with three points from their opening match and currently lead the table on goal difference. They are ahead of Al-Hilal, Al-Ettifaq, Al-Qadsiah, NEOM, Al-Hazem and Al-Ahli, who also have three points after the first round.
Before facing Al-Riyadh, Al-Nassr will return to competitive action in the King’s Cup. They are due to play Al-Diriyah on Tuesday evening in the last-32 stage of the tournament.
The meeting with Al-Riyadh will therefore follow Al-Nassr’s cup tie and could take place at Al-Awwal Park if the Roshn Saudi League approves the clubs’ request. Until that confirmation is issued, Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City Stadium remains the venue listed for the fixture.
Al-Nassr’s proposed move comes after the club and Al-Riyadh reached their agreement, while the league’s ruling will determine whether the match can officially be transferred. If permission is granted, Al-Riyadh will continue to benefit financially as the home team, subject to the deduction of stadium operating and maintenance expenses.
The fixture is one of the matches scheduled for the second round of the Roshn Saudi League, with Al-Nassr entering it as early leaders after their three-point opening victory. Their immediate focus, however, will be Tuesday’s King’s Cup assignment against Al-Diriyah before preparations begin for the league encounter.
