Afena-Gyan makes Black Stars comeback after three-year absence for Unity Cup

Felix Afena-Gyan has earned a surprise recall to the Black Stars for the 2025 Unity Cup in London, his first inclusion since 2022.

The 22-year-old forward, who last featured for Ghana in a pre-World Cup friendly against Brazil, returns to the national fold after a period of development and resurgence at Juventus Next Gen, where he has been a regular figure this season.

Afena-Gyan has bagged six goals and provided three assists in 28 appearances for the Juventus B team in the Italian Serie C.

The striker has one goal in seven appearances for Ghana.

The Black Stars are competing in the Unity Cup in London, England, facing Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria, and Jamaica.

Their next challenge is against Nigeria’s Super Eagles on May 28, where the winner will advance to the final and the loser will compete for third place.
