FIFA President Gianni Infantino has condemned the behavior of Senegal players and staff during the Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco, saying it’s “unacceptable” to leave the field in protest.
The match was marred by controversy after a late penalty decision sparked chaos, with Senegal players briefly walking off the pitch.
Infantino emphasized that teams must respect match officials’ decisions and compete within the Laws of the Game, warning that anything less puts football at risk.
“We strongly condemn the behaviour of some ‘supporters’ as well as some Senegalese players and technical staff members,” Infantino said in a statement. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is reviewing footage and may take disciplinary action against those involved.
