AFCON 2017: CAF schedule could affect Black Stars in Mozambique qualifier

CAF’s tight schedule for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers is likely to affect Ghana’s performance.

The Black Stars will play the first of two qualifiers against Mozambique in Accra on an unusual Thursday and must travel immediately after the game to Maputo for the second leg on Sunday.

Players are expected to arrive in camp on Monday from their various bases abroad.

Head coach Avram Grant will then supervise training for two days before first match.

And then leave for Mozambique on Thursday night, train in Maputo for a day or two before playing the Mambas.

The aforementioned is likely to affect the performance of the players in both games and there are fears we may not see a Black Stars playing at 100%.

Ghana leads Group H with 6 points from two matches following wins over Mauritius and Rwanda.

Victories in the two matches this month will all but confirm the Black Stars participation in the tournament to be played in Gabon next year.
