Francis Abu has come through a successful surgery in Japan following the serious injury he picked up in Ghana’s international friendly against the Blue Samurai.
The midfielder suffered the horrific injury in the second half after a challenge from Tanaka Ao.
He was immediately transported to the Toyota Memorial Hospital in Aichi, where scans revealed fractures in two bones.
Specialists from the Black Stars medical team, Toulouse FC and Japanese surgeons worked together to stabilise his condition and proceed with the operation.
Dr. Prince Pambo and the Ghana medical staff were deeply involved in the process, ensuring the midfielder received round-the-clock care.
Once Abu is cleared for discharge, a GFA management member, a senior member of the technical team and additional medical staff will accompany him back to France.
His teammates and the Ghana football community have continued to express their support as he begins his recovery journey.
Meanwhile, the rest of the team travelled to South Korea ahead of their second match of the international window.
