Friday night sees further action from the Spanish top flight and opens this weekend’s fixtures in La Liga with a bottom half (and possibly an early relegation dress rehearsal) between hosts, Real Valladolid and their visitors, Cadiz, at the Estadio Municipal José Zorrilla.

Both teams occupy the lower regions of the domestic top flight table.

Real Valladolid are currently perched just above the relegation zone sitting fourth from bottom thanks largely to a 1-0 home win against Almeria which has been the hosts’ only highlight in an otherwise ordinary start to their new La Liga campaign.

Defeats to Villarreal, Barcelona and last time out away at Girona have prevented Real Valladolid from lifting themselves further away from the bottom three of the division.

But they did manage to secure a point in a 1-1 draw away at Sevilla which has also contributed to Valladolid keeping their heads above water for the time being.

Victories at home though have been tough to come by for Valladolid as the hosts have managed just two wins out of their last 14 games on home soil.

But having lost just one of the previous eight meetings against Cadiz, Valladolid might just sneak a narrow win here.

Cadiz find themselves sitting rock bottom of the early La Liga standings as the visitors have failed to pick up a single point from their opening five games of this new domestic top flight campaign, and in the process, losing all five of their matches to date.

Early season losses to Real Sociedad, Osasuna, Athletic Bilbao, Celta Vigo and Barcelona have condemned Cadiz to bottom of the table and although they’re not facing one of the bigger sides in the Spanish top flight on Friday evening, the visitors look to be on the back foot ahead of this clash.

With just five wins from their last 21 matches overall in La Liga, Cadiz look to have their work cut out here too, especially as they’ve managed to pick up just three wins from their last 15 outings on the road along with recording just one win against their hosts from their previous eight encounters.

Cadiz have failed to score in eight of their last 15 away games and this could hold the visitors back once again on Friday night against Valladolid.
