Cremonese vs Torino FC – 27/08/2022

Torino to take the spoils at Cremonese

2177

Saturday brings us further action from the Italian top flight and features this upcoming clash between the newcomers, Cremonese, and visitors, Torino, with the two teams battling it out for supremacy at the Stadio Giovanni Zini on Saturday evening.

It’s not been a happy return to the domestic top flight so far for hosts, Cremonese, as they have lost both of their opening two games of this new Serie A campaign, losing out to Fiorentina 3-2 away and last weekend’s 1-0 loss on the road at Roma.

Cremonese will therefore be relieved to be returning to the familiar surroundings of their Stadio Giovanni Zini for this clash with Torino not least because the hosts have won their last five home games on the trot – pre-season friendly victories over Paradiso, Fiorenzuola, SPAL and Crema were followed up with a Coppa Italia 3-2 home win against Ternana.

Indeed, Cremonese have suffered just the single defeat in their previous 21 home games and this impressive run includes 14 wins, so they’ll be hoping they can rekindle some of this form on Saturday.

Torino by contrast have made a solid start to their new Serie A season as the visitors have picked up four points from their opening two games of the new term by way of a 2-1 win away from home at Monza on the opening day of the season and this was followed with a point as they held Lazio to a 0-0 draw on home soil at their Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Overall results have been encouraging for Torino who finished last season in a more comfortable mid-table position of 10th place which was a significant improvement upon the season before which saw them embroiled in a relegation battle.

Torino have lost just two of their last 11 matches overall which were at home to Roma and Napoli but the visitors also picked up five wins in the process which included victories away from home at Salernitana, Empoli and Verona.

Add this season’s win at Monza and Torino look in good shape to add to their points tally this Saturday.

Torino have won each of the previous five meetings on the trot against Cremonese and the visitors look more capable of finding a way to win here than their early struggling hosts.
