The second round of matches in the Italian Serie A this weekend will come to a close when Roma play host to newly promoted Cremonese at their Stadio Olimpico.

As the home side seek to make it two wins on the trot in this new Serie A campaign following a 1-0 win on the road at Salernitana last weekend.

Three points and a clean sheet in their opening game of the season last weekend will have pleased Roma boss, Jose Mourinho, and he’ll now be urging his side to collect another three-point haul with the visit of newcomers Cremonese on Monday night whom they’ve beaten on the previous three occasions on the trot.

Roma finished last season in 6th place in the Serie A standings and will certainly be wanting to improve upon that this time around and having lost just two of their last 18 matches overall in the Italian top flight, Roma look to have far too much experience and quality for their visitors in this clash.

Roma are currently enjoying an eight-game unbeaten run at home in Serie A and will be eager to assert their authority in this encounter.

Onto Cremonese and the visitors secured automatic promotion from Serie B at the end of last season as they finished runners-up behind the Serie B title winners, Lecce, and narrowly pipped 3rd placed Pisa by just a two-point margin to end a 26-year hiatus from the domestic top flight.

However, Cremonese didn’t get their new Serie A campaign off to the best of starts last weekend when they found themselves on the end of a 3-2 defeat away from home at Fiorentina and this upcoming trip to face Roma represents another tough fixture for the newly promoted side from Cremona.

Since their promotion, Cremonese have won four of their six pre-season friendlies which included notable wins against SPAL and Ternana but a second fixture away from home on the trot could take its toll on this Cremonese side who have been out of the top flight for a significant amount of time.

Roma have held the upper hand in previous exchanges, picking up victories in the shape of 3-0, 1-0 and 5-2 wins and having started this new term with a win, Roma will be keen to press home their advantage once again on Monday night to take an important three points.
