On Thursday night, Aris Thessaloniki and Gomel go head-to-head in the Europa Conference League second qualifying round first leg.
Aris Thessaloniki
The Greek team have enjoyed some promising results in pre-season in the build-up to this clash. They have beaten Gent, Olympiakos and Ionikos in friendly matches sending them into this clash in a positive mood.

Aris’ only experience of the Europa Conference came last season when they exited the competition on away goals to Astana after a 3-3 draw in normal and extra time. That defeat came in this round of the competition, so the Greek team will be looking to go one better this time around.
Their solid recent home record could be the key to progression in this competition, as they have lost just one of their previous 11 matches in all competitions on home soil.
Gomel
Unlike the home team, Gomel’s domestic league campaign has already kicked off. They are currently in eighth place in the league table and are experiencing an inconsistent campaign. Their recent form has been inconsistent, although they have been tough to beat, losing just one of their last 11 games in all competitions.
Gomel don’t have that much of a history in European competition. They have never featured in the Europa Conference.
In fact, the last time the visitors featured in any European competition was back in 2013 when they played in the Europa League third qualifying round, only to suffer elimination at the hands of Liverpool with a 4-0 defeat. It is fair to say they are European somewhat European novices.
What does Forebet predict?
Forebet predicts that Aris Thessaloniki will record a narrow victory in a low-scoring encounter, which would leave the tie on a knife-edge heading into next week’s second leg in Belarus.
