According to GIVEMESPORT transfer insider Dean Jones, a significant development has emerged at Elland Road as Newcastle United continue to track the English winger ahead of a potential bid.
It’s thought that the Yorkshire giants did not anticipate such strong interest from another club, whereas they were open to letting Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha leave for the right price.
The Magpies feel that Harrison can add an industrious presence to their attack but, at the moment, they are only willing to pay around £20m, which is some way off Leeds’ valuation.
Marsch will be gutted
This latest update will surely leave Whites manager Jesse Marsch frustrated if not gutted, as he risks losing another one of his key players right before the start of the new campaign.
Harrison has left his future on the table during pre-season, claiming that he would “see what happens” following Leeds’ clash with Aston Villa in Australia.

The Magpies are currently offering around half of the price at which Leeds are reported to value the wide man, with Tuttomercatoweb suggesting that they would like €42m (£35m).
However, their continued interest will certainly worry the American head coach, who is a big fan of the former New York City FC star.
“He can run all day. He is explosive, he’s effective in 1-v-1s, he’s dangerous, he’s smart,” he told reporters (via LeedsLive) soon after arriving at the club and he also revealed that he once tried to sign him. “We tried to find a way to draft him from university. I knew who we was. It’s nice to be on the same team now.”
Aside from Raphinha, the ex-Manchester City man was one of Leeds’ biggest threats last season as he delivered nine goal contributions across 32 starts, adding to his eight goals and eight assists from 2020/21, as per WhoScored.
This sort of form is clearly what has caught Eddie Howe’s eye, and given that Newcastle are now backed by wealthy investors in the Saudi Public Investment Fund, they could well trounce any sort of offer if they are truly keen on signing him.
Leeds also lost Phillips to another Premier League side in defending champions Manchester City.
That is why Marsch and anyone concerned with the Whites will be gutted by this news, as Newcastle are showing no signs of stopping in their pursuit to land him in this summer’s transfer window.
