Manchester United fell two goals behind inside the opening four minutes against Aston Villa as supporters continued their protests against the club’s management at Old Trafford.
Aston Villa made the fastest possible start in the final match of the 10th round of the Premier League, with Alison Edward opening the scoring in the first minute. He caught the Manchester United defence off guard and stunned the home crowd with an early finish.
The visitors struck again only three minutes later when Nicolas Jackson made it 2-0 in the fourth minute. Manchester United were immediately placed under severe pressure, with their difficult afternoon beginning before they had time to settle.
The early setback intensified the tension inside Old Trafford. Manchester United supporters had protested against the club’s management before kick-off, displaying banners calling for change. Their frustration grew as the home side found themselves two goals down within the first four minutes.
The situation also increased the pressure on Manchester United manager Michael Carrick and the club’s administration, amid growing anger over the team’s poor results. The protests outside the match had quickly been followed by another setback on the pitch.
Manchester United were given a route back into the game in the 16th minute when Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty. Matheus Cunha had won the spot-kick after being fouled inside the penalty area, allowing the hosts to reduce the deficit and revive the atmosphere among the home supporters.
The penalty also recalled Manchester United’s Champions League meeting with Roma, when the English side had trailed 2-0 before completing a dramatic 3-2 comeback. On that occasion, Bruno Fernandes had also begun the recovery by scoring from the penalty spot.
Manchester United completed their fightback before half-time. In the 44th minute, Youri Tielemans, a former Aston Villa player, levelled the match with a powerful effort from the edge of the penalty area.
The opening 15 minutes therefore produced three goals, with Aston Villa’s early assault giving way to a Manchester United response before the interval.
The fixture information also lists Aston Villa in the Premier League on 21 November 2026. Sunderland and Liverpool are listed for a Premier League fixture on 22 November 2026, while Manchester United is also included in the schedule details.
