All 20 clubs in the Gold Fields Women’s Premier League have received GH¢100,000 from the Football Association as the 2026/27 season begins.
The payments, made on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, amount to a total of GH¢2 million. The annual financial support fulfils a commitment made by Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku to improve the financial capacity of women’s football clubs and support the continued development of the women’s game in Ghana.
The funding is intended to provide immediate assistance to the participating clubs as they prepare for and compete in the new campaign. It also represents the latest step in the Football Association’s wider programme of support for women’s football.
In addition to the direct payments, the Football Association will cover the fees of referees and Match Commissioners for the entire season.
That arrangement is expected to reduce the financial responsibilities of the clubs and support the effective organisation and administration of matches throughout the league campaign.
The support package also includes equipment for players. Each of the 20 clubs will receive 30 pairs of football boots for training and match-day use, helping to address essential player welfare and equipment needs.
Further practical assistance will come from GOIL and Melcom. GOIL will provide fuel support, while Melcom will contribute souvenirs as part of the package being delivered to the clubs.
The assistance is being provided as the 20 teams begin their 2026/27 Gold Fields Women’s Premier League campaign, with the Football Association reaffirming its commitment to the growth and development of women’s football under President Simeon-Okraku.
