The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has paid the first tranche of its annual GH¢120,000 support package to each of the 48 clubs competing in the Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) Division One League.
The funding, provided through the GFA’s sponsorship partnership with Universal Merchant Bank, is intended to help clubs manage the financial demands of running their teams throughout the season.
Each participating club is entitled to GH¢120,000 under the annual arrangement. The support is designed to assist with essential expenses, strengthen administrative operations and provide a more sustainable framework for football development in Ghana’s second tier.
Clubs face significant costs during the campaign, including player welfare, travel and other logistical requirements, as well as routine administrative responsibilities. The GFA expects the payment to reduce some of that financial pressure and help teams meet their operational obligations.
The association has also confirmed that it will continue to cover several key match-day costs connected with the Division One League.
Those expenses include the fees of referees, Match Commissioners, venue media officers and cameramen. By taking responsibility for these payments, the GFA is providing further financial relief to clubs as they organise league fixtures.
The support package and coverage of match-day costs are part of the GFA’s wider efforts to improve the financial stability and operational capacity of clubs across the competition.
Through its partnership with Universal Merchant Bank, the Football Association says it is pursuing practical measures to create a more financially sustainable league while supporting the continued growth of football at the second tier of the domestic game.
