Barcelona will suspend activity in the Gol 1957 supporters’ section for Saturday’s La Liga meeting with Deportivo Alaves after a series of disciplinary incidents, including an attack on Eduardo Camavinga during Real Madrid’s goal celebrations in the Clasico.
Camavinga was struck with a flagpole by a supporter in the closing stages of Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory at Camp Nou. Objects were also thrown from the stands as Real Madrid celebrated their second goal, scored by Kylian Mbappe.
The incident has become one of the main issues facing Barcelona after the match, with concerns raised over the behaviour of supporters inside the stadium.
Police identified the supporter allegedly involved using stadium surveillance footage, with assistance from the club’s security authorities. La Liga subsequently filed a complaint over the incident.
According to Spanish media reports, the supporter could face a fine of up to 60,000 euros, as well as a possible ban from sporting venues.
Barcelona’s decision was announced in a statement published on the club’s official website. It said the temporary suspension of the Gol 1957 stand, also known as the supporters’ section, followed a number of disciplinary proceedings involving the club and some of its members.
“FC Barcelona has decided to suspend the activity of the Gol 1957 stand, known as the supporters’ section, during the upcoming league match against Alaves,” the statement said.
“This decision comes in response to a series of disciplinary proceedings opened against the club and some of its members because of behaviour that conflicts with sporting values. These actions expose the club to financial penalties and the risk of stadium closure, as well as damaging its image.
“The club will meet representatives of the groups that make up Gol 1957 to discuss the situation and establish the necessary commitments to preserve passionate and respectful support for the team, without putting the property or reputation of FC Barcelona at risk.
“The club’s wish is for Gol 1957 to return to full operation during the match against Aston Villa, provided these discussions make it possible to rectify the situation and ensure its proper functioning.
“Support is an important element that the club wishes to preserve, based on the shared commitment and responsibility of everyone, in the interests of FC Barcelona.”
Barcelona are scheduled to face Deportivo Alaves in La Liga on 31 October 2026. The competition’s listed fixtures also include Racing Santander against Real Madrid on 1 November 2026.
