Medeama SC suffered their first defeat of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season as FC Samartex 1996 scored a stoppage-time winner on Matchday 7.
Christian Agyenim struck three minutes into added time to give Samartex a 2-1 victory at the Nsenkyire Arena, after Joshuah Fuseini had put the home side ahead in the 54th minute.
Medeama, the defending champions, appeared to have rescued a point when Dominic Amponsah equalised in the 79th minute. However, Agyenim’s late goal settled the contest and secured all three points for Samartex.
Medeama remain top of the table on 14 points, level with Hearts of Oak and Samartex after seven matches.
Kotoko and Aduana return to winning ways
Asante Kotoko ended a run without a league victory by beating Young Apostles 2-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Hubert Gyau broke the deadlock in the 70th minute and Solomon Nsor Asaah added a second 12 minutes later. Young Apostles reduced the deficit through Huziaf Iddrisu’s late direct free-kick, but Kotoko held on to move up to sixth place.
Young Apostles remain in the relegation zone.
Aduana FC also responded to their previous defeat with a 1-0 home win against FC AshantiGold 04 at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park.
Abubakar Adams scored in the 40th minute after reacting quickest to a rebound from Seidu Saana’s free-kick. AshantiGold’s task became more difficult when Akwasi Afari was sent off, enabling the Fire Boys to see out the victory.
Late drama and important home wins
Dreams FC earned a stoppage-time point in a 1-1 draw with Port City at the Daasebre Boamah Darko II Park.
Samuel Aryee Baadu gave the hosts the lead soon after half-time with a powerful effort, but Kelvin Ahiable scored late to deny Port City victory. Dreams remain bottom of the standings, although the point offered some encouragement.
Swedru All Blacks continued their strong home form with a 2-0 win over Karela United. Eric Wiafe Darkwah converted a ninth-minute penalty before creating the second goal for Faisal Charwetey in the 59th minute.
The result gave the Black Magicians successive league victories. Karela, meanwhile, are still waiting for their first away point of the campaign.
Basake Holy Stars preserved their perfect home record by defeating Bechem United 1-0 at the AAK II Park. Bismark Teye Tetteh scored early in the second half as Holy Stars returned to winning ways and climbed to fifth.
Bechem United have now gone five Premier League matches without beating Holy Stars.
Debibi United moved out of the relegation zone with a 1-0 win over Bibiani Gold Stars at Debibi Presby Park.
Maxwell Agyemang scored just before half-time to end the hosts’ three-match winless run. The victory moved Debibi United level with Gold Stars on seven points, while Gold Stars missed the chance to build on the previous weekend’s win.
At the end of Matchday 7, Medeama, Hearts of Oak and Samartex remain level at the top on 14 points.
