Coventry City manager Frank Lampard says Brandon Thomas-Asante’s ability to play in a range of attacking positions has made him an important part of the club’s plans.
The Ghanaian forward can operate on either wing, behind the striker or as a central number nine. Lampard believes that flexibility, combined with Thomas-Asante’s willingness to work for the team, has helped him establish himself as a trusted option during Coventry’s Premier League campaign.
Thomas-Asante has also benefited from his readiness to take on whatever role is required, including during periods when injuries reduced the manager’s attacking choices.
“He can play left wing, play as a 10, play right wing, play as a number nine; he can do anything and will give you everything,” Lampard said.
The Coventry manager also highlighted the forward’s attitude, saying his humility and determination had supported his progress through the English football divisions.
Thomas-Asante began his career with Ebbsfleet United and Sutton United before making his name at Salford City. He later moved to West Bromwich Albion and then joined Coventry City, continuing his rise through the football pyramid.
Lampard says the forward’s energy, technical quality and commitment to the collective cause have made him a valuable member of the squad as he considers the most effective attacking combinations.
“So yeah, I think he’s a good example of players that come through with a really humble mentality that want to do well. Brandon is that,” he added.
Thomas-Asante’s capacity to cover several positions gives Coventry greater tactical flexibility, while Lampard continues to assess how best to balance his attacking options.
