Ghanaian midfielder Richard Boadu has returned to Asante Kotoko after a spell without a club, signing a contract that runs until 30 June 2028.
The 28-year-old central midfielder completed the move on 25 August and will play in Ghana’s Premier League. No transfer fee has been disclosed for the deal.
Boadu previously represented Asante Kotoko between 2021 and 2023, joining from Medeama before moving to Egyptian club Al-Ahly in August 2023. He made 103 Premier League appearances during his career, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
His earlier spell with Kotoko included the club’s Ghanaian Premier League title-winning campaign in the 2021-22 season. Boadu also has experience in continental competition, having made eight appearances in the CAF Champions League.
After leaving Al-Ahly, Boadu moved to Club Africain in January 2025. He then spent part of the 2024-25 season on loan at Libyan side Al-Tahaddy before returning to Club Africain in June.
The Kumasi-born player subsequently left Club Africain on 1 July 2025 and remained without a club until completing his return to Asante Kotoko. He has also played in the Libyan Premier League, making six appearances and recording one goal and one assist during his loan spell.
Boadu’s current market value is listed at €50,000, while his highest recorded value was €125,000. He is right-footed and stands 1.78m tall.
The midfielder now begins a second spell with Asante Kotoko under a contract lasting through June 2028.
