Al-Nassr have decided to make Saudi Arabia goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi available for transfer during the current summer window, with negotiations over a possible move to Al-Fateh reportedly at an advanced stage.
The proposed agreement would see Al-Nassr receive a transfer fee from Al-Fateh, as well as goalkeeper Abdulhadi Al-Alwan and right-back Saeed Baattia in return for Al-Aqidi.
Saudi newspaper Okaz reported that Al-Nassr had informed Al-Aqidi’s agent that the club did not intend to renew the goalkeeper’s contract. The decision was communicated during a meeting between the two sides at Al-Nassr’s training camp in Lisbon, Portugal.
Al-Fateh are seeking to secure Al-Aqidi on a permanent basis after he spent the second half of the 2024-25 season with the club on loan. The negotiations between the Saudi clubs are understood to have reached an advanced stage, with an agreement expected to be completed in the coming days before an official announcement is made.
The proposed deal would bring an end to a period of uncertainty surrounding Al-Aqidi, who has reportedly been seeking a move away from Al-Nassr in search of more regular first-team football next season.
The 26-year-old is a product of Al-Nassr’s academy and was promoted to the senior squad in 2019. However, he has not been able to establish himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and has spent time away from the team on loan.
Al-Aqidi joined Al-Tai on loan in 2022 before moving to Al-Fateh in 2025. His latest spell came after he had begun the previous campaign as Al-Nassr’s regular goalkeeper.
He subsequently lost his place in the side after making a number of errors midway through the season. The most notable mistakes came during matches against Al-Qadsiah and Al-Hilal in the Roshn Saudi League.
Al-Aqidi’s position with the Saudi Arabia national team was also affected. He was dropped from the starting line-up after errors in a friendly against Egypt in March, with experienced goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais taking his place.
Al-Owais is expected to be Saudi Arabia’s goalkeeper at the 2026 World Cup, rather than Al-Aqidi.
For Al-Nassr, the proposed transfer would provide a route for the club to reshape its goalkeeping options while also bringing in two players from Al-Fateh alongside a financial payment. The two clubs are now working towards finalising the agreement, with confirmation expected shortly if the remaining details are settled.
