Nollywood actor and entertainer Charles Okocha has challenged comedian and singer Carter Efe to a boxing match after defeating controversial musician Portable in a high-profile celebrity bout.

Okocha, who is also known by the nickname Mr Phenomenal, made the call shortly after his victory over Portable. The win reportedly earned him a prize of ₦150 million and has encouraged the actor to seek another headline-making contest.

“I wish I can beat Carter Efe,” Okocha said.

Carter Efe has not yet responded publicly to the challenge. His silence has nevertheless done little to slow the reaction online, with fans debating whether the comedian will accept the invitation or treat it as playful banter between two well-known figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

The proposed contest would follow Okocha’s much-publicised meeting with Portable, a bout that attracted considerable attention from entertainment audiences in Nigeria and beyond. Both men are outspoken personalities with large public profiles, helping to generate interest before the fight even took place.

Their contest was preceded by exchanges and social media hype, as supporters followed the build-up and debated the likely outcome. Okocha eventually emerged victorious, then celebrated the result before turning his attention towards another familiar name from the entertainment world.

Carter Efe has established his own following through comedy skits and music. A clash with Okocha would therefore bring together two entertainers whose careers have been built across different parts of Nigeria’s popular culture, while also giving fans another potentially high-profile event to discuss.

The challenge has added to the momentum around celebrity boxing in Nigeria, where entertainers have increasingly used the ring to display their competitive side and create moments for their audiences. The concept combines sporting spectacle with the personalities and social-media attention that surround the participants.

Okocha’s latest call-out suggests he is keen to remain involved after his victory over Portable, although no response has yet been announced by Carter Efe and no new fight has been confirmed.

If Carter Efe accepts, the proposed bout could become another significant attraction in Nigeria’s expanding celebrity boxing scene. For now, the attention remains on whether Okocha’s public invitation will lead to a second contest or remain an exchange between two entertainers in the spotlight.
