Ghana’s Black Queens are safe and receiving support from the country’s diplomatic mission in the UAE, according to Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa.
“Our diplomatic mission in the UAE has been in close contact with the Black Queens, extending much-needed consular support,” Ablakwa said, assuring Ghanaians of the team’s safety amid unrest in the Middle East.
Ablakwa emphasized the government’s priority:
“In this turbulent moment, the safety and welfare of all Ghanaians, particularly those currently in the Middle East, remains our utmost priority.”
The minister’s statement comes as tensions rise in the region, prompting concerns for Ghanaian nationals.
The Black Queens, currently participating in the Pink Ladies Cup, had their match against Russia postponed due to the situation.
The team’s safety is being closely monitored, and they are expected to return home soon.
