Asante Kotoko are moving to appoint Samuel Boadu as their next head coach following Abdul Karim Zito’s resignation, according to reports.

Zito stepped down after Kotoko were eliminated from the League Cup by Aduana FC in the round of 16.

In the interim, assistant coach Prince Owusu took charge and led the team into the Super Clash, which ended in a narrow home defeat.

Boadu, who previously led rivals Accra Hearts of Oak, is currently managing Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League.

His potential appointment is seen as bold given his strong record against Kotoko while at Hearts of Oak.

During his tenure with the Phobians, he guided them to the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title, ending over a decade-long drought.

He also won two MTN FA Cups in 2021 and 2022, the 2021 Ghana Super Cup, and the 2022 President’s Cup.

Kotoko fans will hope Boadu’s experience and winning mentality can revive their team’s fortunes.
