Chelsea forward Tyrique George has publicly confirmed his Ghanaian heritage, a revelation that could shape his international future.

The teenager made the disclosure after completing a deadline-day loan switch from Chelsea to Everton for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.

Speaking as he settled into life on Merseyside, George explained his family background and eligibility.

“I was born in London, my mom is Ghanaian and my dad is Nigerian.”

The 19-year-old enjoyed regular involvement at Chelsea earlier this season, featuring 11 times and finding the net against Lincoln City, Wolves and Ajax.

His performances have also earned him recognition at international youth level with England.

George has already represented the Young Lions at Under-21 level, scoring twice in four appearances.

Before that, he featured for England across the U16, U17, U18 and U19 age groups.

With no senior cap yet, the winger remains free to choose between England, Ghana or Nigeria at full international level.

His confirmation ends long-standing speculation about his background and places him firmly on the radar of multiple national teams.
