Civ FA boss Idriss Diallo has come out in support of Emerse Faé, stating that the coach will remain in his position despite speculation of his departure.
“We have to be serious… this coach won AFCON under conditions we all know, qualified us for a first World Cup since 2014, qualified for another AFCON, reached quarterfinals,” Diallo said. “I won’t give in to pressure. Faé stays.”
Faé led Ivory Coast to their first AFCON title in 10 years in 2024 and has guided the team to the quarterfinals of the current tournament.
He has also helped Ivory Coast qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ending a 12-year drought.
The coach’s future had been uncertain after Ivory Coast’s exit from the AFCON, but Diallo’s statement has put an end to speculation.
“We are happy with Faé’s work and we believe he is the right man for the job,” Diallo added.
