Former All Blacks head coach Ahmed Fathi has firmly dismissed reports linking him with a move to Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko.
The Egyptian tactician, who recently stepped down from his role as head coach of Accra Great Olympics, addressed the rumours during an interview on Akoma 87.9 FM, stressing that claims of contact from the Porcupine Warriors are untrue.
“If this is about claims that someone from Asante Kotoko has contacted me, as being reported in the media, then I must state clearly that it is not true,” Fathi said.
He explained that the ongoing speculation surrounding his future is not grounded in any official discussions or approaches.
“Everything being said at the moment exists only in the media,” he added.
Despite rejecting the reports, Fathi admitted he feels honoured to be associated with one of Ghana’s most successful clubs, even though no formal talks have taken place.
“I am, however, proud and honoured that my name is being linked with a big club like Kotoko, but as it stands, there has been nothing official,” he noted.
Fathi’s comments appear to put to rest growing speculation that his recent resignation was influenced by interest from the Kumasi-based club, as questions continue to swirl around his next move in Ghanaian football.
