Senegal secured their spot in the Africa Cup of Nations last 16 with a convincing 3-0 win over Benin, topping Group D in the process.
Abdoulaye Seck headed the Lions of Teranga in front on 38 minutes, before Habib Diallo doubled the lead just after the hour mark. Cherif Ndiaye sealed the victory with a penalty in the 97th minute.
Sadio Mane set up Diallo for the second goal, showcasing Senegal’s attacking prowess.
However, the win was marred by the red card shown to captain Kalidou Koulibaly, who will miss the last-16 clash.
Senegal will face the third-place finisher in Group E, either Burkina Faso or Sudan, in Tangier on January 3.
DR Congo, who finished second in Group D, will take on Algeria in the last 16.
